Cambridge university, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute, invites applications from scholars from selected countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine, who wish to work in the universities' libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects. At Cambridge the programme offers one-month visits in one of the Cambridge colleges during the summer months (July-September). Scholars will normally be of post-doctoral or equivalent status and will be university teachers or members of research institutes.

A variety of academic opportunities are available to scholars in participating countries to pursue advanced degrees and training at top level universities in Germany. Grantees will be clustered at host institutions to build cohorts of graduates and professors with a common frame of reference, generating international and intra-regional connections into the future. The grants are awarded jointly by DAAD and OSI for study and living expenses incurred at German Universities.
The Open Society Institute offers supplementary grants to students from select countries of Eastern and Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia. The purpose of the program is to enable qualified students to pursue doctoral studies in the humanities and social sciences at accredited universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle/Near East, and North America.
The Open Society Foundation-London, the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Overseas Trust invite applications for the above scholarships at the University of Cambridge for the academic year 2011-12. Applicants will normally be both nationals of and resident in Ukraine
The Open Society Foundations, Maastricht University (The Netherlands) and Aarhus University (Denmark) invite applications for scholarships in the field of European Studies. Applicants will be able to apply for one of the three master courses offered at Maastricht University - the MA in European Studies, MA in Analysing Europe and the MA in European Public Affairs; or for the MA in European Studies at the University of Aarhus. Candidates may apply to one or maximum two of the courses listed above, with the first choice of course clearly stated.
The program is designed to assist educational and civic development in Southeastern Europe and Mongolia by exposing participants to a liberal arts curriculum, different models of classroom instruction, community service work, and civil society related programming. The program encourages cross-national dialogues among student communities; introduces students from the region to colleagues from other parts of the world; and provides comprehensive student services including an orientation, workshops, and alumni activities. Participants spend one academic year studying at an American university and become acquainted with a variety of educational and research methods which they can apply to their academic pursuits in their home countries. They also complete community service work and attend conferences on civil-society building, leadership, and community involvement. At the end of the year, they are expected to return home to complete their degrees and participate in a community service project or non-governmental organization internship.
