The IRF Fellowship Program for graduate engineers and transportation managers has been a cornerstone in the work of the International Road Federation for more than 50 years. The Program provides a one-time grant toward the costs of university graduate study in fields related to the development of better and safer roads and road networks worldwide. Through the International Road Educational Foundation, the IRF awards grants to graduate engineers and other transportation professionals from around the world in support of full-time academic training. With this the IRF actively supports the future generations who will build the road networks. Graduates of the Program comprise a highly skilled, efficient and productive body of experts which today exerts a strong influence on the orderly development of road transportation systems around the world. Many Fellows have become high government officials as well as leaders in the private sector and in academia, where they are in a position to exercise a multiplier effect in the transfer of technology and information. Through the IRF Fellows Alumni Association founded in 1993 by the late Dr. Sadamu Mino, strong bonds are formed among the Fellows, the IRF and IRF's member organizations.
The Special Scholarship Program (SSP) is established to support the advanced research of the university by enlisting the help of highly capable international students. Every year in April and October, the university enrolls selected foreign doctoral students for specific research projects. The students pursue the doctoral course in English while at the same time assisting their host professor as a research assistant (RA). Through this program KUT wishes to expand and deepen international ties with academic and educational institutions all over the world.

The MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship is a post-doctoral clinical fellowship providing up to four years' support. There is also a patient-oriented version of the scheme that provides up to five years' support, which is intended for research which requires up to 40 per cent of the fellow's time to be spent in clinical work. At least 50 per cent of this clinical work should be of direct relevance to the research project.
The MRC's Methodology Research Fellowship is aimed at developing the methodological research leaders of tomorrow. The scheme provides a significant career development opportunity for early postdoctoral researchers for a period of concentrated methods research activity and development. Eligible fields include: health economics; biostatistics, bioinformatics; modeling, decision sciences, epidemiology; clinical trials; behavioural sciences; health psychology, qualitative methodologies and mixed methods, medical sociology and medical geography.
Applicants should have a diploma, master (MSc) or equivalent in Chemistry, with a strong background in inorganic materials. Experience in solid state synthesis will be preferred. Good command of written and spoken English is mandatory. Computer programming skills, e.g. in Matlab or Mathematica is an advantage.
Applicants will normally hold a PhD/DPhil and have at least six years' post-doctoral research experience. Applications from current MRC career development award holders are particularly welcome. MRC fellowships are not available to individuals who hold a tenured academic or research position, in the UK or oversees, at the time of application. If you hold a tenured position you may apply for funding under one of the MRC grant schemes. In addition, individuals without tenure who are already research team leaders should seek MRC grant funding rather than support via an MRC fellowship. There are no residence eligibility restrictions for this fellowship. As part of the MRC equal opportunities policy, consideration will be given to applicants who are returning to science following a career break. There are no age limits for any of our schemes and all fellowships may be held part-time to fit in with domestic responsibilities.
